Score 4 Scholarships Basketball Tournament
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Score 4 Scholarships Basketball Tournament on Sunday, April 11, 2010! The tournament has been held every year since 2006 at the University of Pennsylvania’s famous PALESTRA gymnasium. The S4S tournament is an “NCAA Style” bracket competition and features three competitive divisions with up to eight basketball teams in each division. Trophies are awarded to winners in each division, and all participants receive amazing T-shirts, pizza, snacks, and beverages.
The S4S Tourney helps to raise money for “Last Dollar Scholarships” to graduates of 21 public neighborhood high schools across the City of Philadelphia. Since the program’s inception in 1990, more than 1,900 students have received scholarships, totaling nearly $9 million. Many of these students are the first members of their families to attend college.
